Permian Extinction

250 million years ago, a mass extinction, the Permian extinction and also known as the Great Dying, wiped out a huge chunk of living organisms living on Earth. Approximately 90% of ¬†Earth’s marine species died and more than half of living families of specimens died. The cause of an event of this magnitude is disputed, but the cause may have been from a combination of factors including an environmental change and a catastrophic event.
